We’re now entering the last quarter of 2010, folks! And while we’ve been able to see tons of cool gadgets arriving and claiming their space on local store shelves, there are still numerous goodies that have yet to land on our shores. So, in celebration of our frustration and annoyance anticipation of these cool goodies, here are 10 gadgets that we wish are already here in the Philippines, officially.
Note: When we say officially, we mean available through channels authorized by the mother ship brands and not via some back-door route or the web’s power.
Ah, the iPad, one of Steve-O’s biggest offerings ever. It has claimed the souls money of numerous Americans and a handful of foreigners. The bad news is, local fanboys are yet to have their iPad itch scratched. How long will the wait go on?
Oh how we wish we’re in the UK now. Why? Because that lucky country has first dibs on Samsung’s Galaxy Tab – the very gadget that is poised start a fight with Apple’s iPad (which, incidentally, is also not yet available here). We’d give anything to witness the 2 battle it out in the flesh. Hey Korea, why don’t you give your Asian neighbor some neighborly love by sending the Galaxy Tab on a journey here?
Who wouldn’t want to get their hands on this speedster of a mobile? Definitely not us! The reasons why we want it so bad are its dashing, handsome looks, its reported break-neck processing speeds, and the fact that it will be the first handset to be slapped by the new Symbian^3 OS!
We’re waiting and we know many of you are, too. Let’s just hope we won’t be forced to empty our life savings because of it.
Okay, so Dell’s Inspiron Duo is yet to be officially available in any country, but still, we want this hybrid, swivelin’ wonder here now, all the same. And why wouldn’t we? It’s a tablet-slash-netbook-slash-crazy-looking gadget. We hope it swivels its way here before another weird unique-looking gadget manages to capture our imaginations and forget about it. Oh wait, too late.
We’ve waited for the NX10’s successor long enough, and finally it has become official! However, that’s just it, it’s only official – no word on the pricing and availability yet. Of course, that doesn’t stop us from wishing for this hybrid, “mirrorless” wonder to land in one of our 7,107 (low tide) islands, especially with its top-notch specs that makes us want to use EVIL cameras even more.
We know you guys will agree when we say this list won’t be complete without the iPhone 4, right? Even with its screen and antenna problems, we still want this baby here and now! It won’t necessarily be the KING when it arrives here because we know of at least one who can be called its equal. Still, the prospect of having the Retina Display-touting handset on our hands is indeed enticing. Heck, we might even do what this guy did just to get the device, or maybe not.
Nokia calls it their “ultimate business smartphone”. We here at Techie calls it “another gadget to add on our wishlist”. Sure, it’s targeted to business minded peeps but simple geeks like us still want to play with this bad boy and see its tilting frame and slid-out keyboard right before our eyes. And of course, it has the capabilities and power to deserve the lofty monikers its Finnish makers have given it.
Acer dual-screen notebook
We want this gadget not because of its killer-specs (because, frankly, there’s little detail about it) but because of novelty. Look at it this way, how many geeks can claim they’ve seen, much less owned, a notebook that has 2 15-friggin’-inch touchscreens displays with multi-touch? Right? We’ll have to wait for a long time before we even see it in the flesh (if it ever does become flesh) because it’s scheduled for a late 2011 release. Boohoo.
Here’s another tablet that we want to arrive here pronto. Yes, it is smaller than the iPad or the Galaxy Tab but that doesn’t mean it lacks the weapons to go head-to-head with its bigger rivals for it has a 1GHz Qualcomm processor, Android 2.2 (FroYo), front and rear cameras, multi-touch capable screen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth and, of course, multi-tasking.
And you thought we’ve forgotten our console-gaming friends, eh? Not by a long shot as we add, last but not the least, the still unreleased Microsoft Kinect previously known as Project Natal. If you were living under a rock for sometime Kinect basically turns your whole body into on giant game controller. Nifty huh? Of course, we still have to wait a bit for it. Microsoft, give us some love, will you?
