Acer Philippines to launch Ferrari smartphone this Friday

Acer Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition

Acer mobile phones are driving back to the Philippines, and they’re doing it in ultimate style. Nope, they’re not just going Android, they’re also bringing in some Italian gelato magic with the Acer Liquid E Ferrari Special Edition smartphone.

The Ferrari phone (rolls off the tongue oh-so-smoothly, doesn’t it?) has a lot of expectations to live up to especially when it comes to speed. We’re a bit concerned about the phone packing not-so-cutting-edge features such as the underclocked 768MHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 8520 processor and the slightly older Android 2.1 “Eclair” mobile OS. Ah but as the old gadget saying goes, “Numbers are just numbers, what matters is how it performs.” (Note: We made that up. Just now.)

We haven’t had the pleasure of playing (driving) with the Ferrari yet, although it was spotted during the Acer dual-core netbook launch. Dang, we should’ve stayed a few extra minutes!

But that’s not the only one to introduced this Friday. 2 other smartphones will also be unveiled. According to Acer, they’re also coming up with 2 other unnamed smartphones. Some of their latest offerings overseas, however, are the beTouch E130 and E120 and the Stream. Take your pick.

P.S. We sure hope the sweet-looking Bluetooth headset (see gallery) will be included in the package!
