BlackBerry PlayBook to sell for under $500?

RIM‘s BlackBerry Playbook, the iPad-killer with top-notch specs, aims to be the top dog in the tablet wars. Too bad we’re expecting it to be significantly pricier than its rivals especially with its hard-core guts. However, as if to keep our hopes up, reports are now circulating that RIM’s co-CEO Jim Balsillie said the PlayBook will debut under $500 (about P21,700), well inside the iPad’s price-range.

We’ll set the record straight, Balsillie didn’t exactly mention any specific price, all he said was “the product will be very competitively priced” and that it will be under $500. That’s enough to get us excited because the iPad starts at $499 (about P21,650) for the 16GB Wi-Fi version. If what Basillie says is true, then we’ll be seeing a similarly priced tablet with better hardware – and Flash!
